The developer claims to take suggestions, but doesn't seem to actually add anything. While BTT is great for some things, I use it a ton, there is much to be desired from the app. BTT can't do this, though you can set triggers to only work when the cursor is over the dock, but it doesn't matter what app is under the cursor. Swish has a few actions it will perform when the cursor is over an app icon in the dock. Swish has a pinch action that will close the tab or window your cursor is over (does not have to be the active window).īTT will only interact with the frontmost app, and not the one under the cursor (though you can get around this by setting the start action to run an AppleScript to set the window under the cursor as the active window, then set a 2nd action to do whatever to the window) So you have to set a trigger to start the "gesture" recording, then whatever action you set for the gesture needs to end with the "stop recording" action to close the little drawing window you do the gesture in.īTT can't interact with Tabs like Swish can. You would need to use BTTs custom drawing gestures, which is rather poorly designed. So with Swish you can swipe down and to the left to move/resize a window to the bottom corner of the screen. Lazy atm, but if any of the workflows sound interesting just lmk which ones and I'll find them for you.īTT has way more customizable options, but it can't daisy chain gestures like Swish does. And obviously launch apps, Google searches and the basic stuff.Launching Twitch streams in IINA via streamlink.Run quick Terminal commands - mostly just installing apps via homebrew or launching youtube-dl (Downloader for a bunch of websites' video).Calculator (expanded by workflow for unit conversions).Managing Apple Music - Alfred has a built in music player, but it's wonky and buggy so I use a workflow.Managing Safari workflow - Find tabs, check history, launch iCloud Tabs (this one I can never find without a trackpad on the new Safari anymore), opening bookmarks.Snippets (text expander) and clipboard history.Browsing files - so much more convenient than opening a Finder window and clicking through things.I'm a very casual Mac user, so I don't have loads of developer workflows and all that jazz, but I do use it for most of its features and to streamline a few daily tasks. There is so so much more you can do the only issue (like you've identified) is finding use cases and setting it up yourself. I have a Macbook with notch, so I used its new notch bar feature to create a whole slew of useful, custom buttons above my menu bar (pause/play music, ssh into common servers, I even wrote a script to open Spotify on a random lofi song from a random lofi playlist) BTT has window management/snapping, clipboard manager, text expansion, keyboard shortcuts) all features found in multiple paid apps that could all be replaced with 1. I have a lot of other stuff set up too, and a lot of the default functionality can replace other apps (ie. The second is a bit gimmicky but I've ended up using it a lot, pinching and rotating the trackpad to adjust volume like a digital knob (I've also extended to do the same with brightness and keyboard backlight) You can check here: Wouldn't touch a Mac if I couldn't do this. Navigating tabs with gestures: I have it set up so a 3 finger swipe down opens a new tab, 3 finger up closes tab, and 3 finger left/right switches between tabs. Late response - I have many use cases but a few of my favourite:
